Professeur Associé, Chef de Service - Service de chirurgie de la main, du membre supérieur et du Sport, Hôpital Avicenne, Université Paris XIII Bobigny
Chief of the department of upper limb and sports surgery at Avicenne Teaching Hospital , Associate Professor at the University Paris XIII, and Research associate in the department of Mechanical Engineering and Musculoskeletal Surgery at Imperial College, London, UK, my area of interest is the development of enhanced surgery with the use of digital technologies.
I have performed in June 2014 the first medical application for the Occulus Rift Virtual reality headset and more recently, in December 2017, the world first surgery with Microsoft HoloLens mixed reality headset and a medical holographic platform
I am running research projects focused on the use of virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), connected devices (CD) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) respectively to create a surgical simulator (VR+AI), to improve the accuracy and security of minimally invasive surgery (AR+VR+AI) and to get a thorough understanding of individual daily activity for developing patient specific treatment (CD+AI)
These activity led to the creation of the Moveo foundation (http://www.fondation-moveo.fr) and I am founding member and president of this foundation.
The Moveo Foundation supports research projects aiming to modernize and enhance the medical performance at all levels of the patient management, and to decrease the risk of human error from the medical profession, with the use of modern digital technology.
With the MOVEO Foundation, I wish to change the surgical practices in orthopaedic surgery and specially in shoulder and upper limb surgery, into a more modern and connected medicine, image of a fast-changing society.
